Making your LPA is free. Here is what isn’t.
The questions, the official forms and the check call cost nothing. Two things cost money: an optional service from us, and a registration fee that goes to the government whichever way you make an LPA.
Free to make. The Office of the Public Guardian charges £92 to register each LPA. That fee goes to the government, not to us. You may not have to pay it — some people qualify for a reduction or an exemption.

You might not need to pay us anything.
Most people print their own documents and have a friend act as certificate provider. If that’s you, the only money that changes hands is the government’s £92 registration fee — and some people don’t pay that either.
You may not have to pay the £92
If you receive certain means-tested benefits, the fee can be waived entirely. If your gross annual income is under £12,000, you may pay half. The claim goes in on a form called the LPA120 — we generate it for you from your answers, free, and your estate planner will flag it on your call if it looks like you qualify.

What we stand behind
We won’t tell you registration is guaranteed, because the Office of the Public Guardian decides that, not us.
If the OPG rejects an LPA for something we checked, we correct it and cover the £92 to register it again.
Questions about cost
Is making an LPA really free?
Yes. The online questions, the official OPG forms generated from your answers, and the check call with an estate planner cost nothing. The £92 registration fee per LPA is charged by the Office of the Public Guardian, not by us.
What does the £99 service include?
We print your documents, post them to you with a personalised signing guide, and check the signed pack before it goes to the Office of the Public Guardian. It exists for people who would rather not manage the printing and signing stage themselves. It is optional.
What does the £169 couple’s bundle include?
Four documents: a property and financial affairs LPA and a health and welfare LPA for each of you. We print all four, post them with one signing guide covering the order everybody signs in, and check the signed pack before it goes to the Office of the Public Guardian. It is £29 less than buying the £99 service twice. The £92 OPG registration fee still applies to each of the four LPAs.
Can I get a will as well?
Yes. A single-person will is £49, written from your answers and checked by an estate planner before you sign. It is a separate document from your LPA — an LPA covers decisions while you are alive, a will covers what happens after you die.
What if I don’t want to pay you anything?
Then you pay us nothing. We email your finished documents, you print them at home and post them to the Office of the Public Guardian yourself. The paid services exist for people who would rather not handle the printing, posting and signing stage. Your documents are ready within 24 hours either way.
What is the £92 registration fee?
The Office of the Public Guardian charges £92 to register each LPA so it can legally be used. You pay it to the OPG whichever service you use to make your LPA, including GOV.UK.
Who qualifies for a reduced registration fee?
If you receive certain means-tested benefits you may pay nothing, and if your gross annual income is under £12,000 you may pay half. We generate the LPA120 remission form for you as part of the free service, and flag it on your check call.
How much is a certificate provider from you?
If you have a friend or neighbour who has known you for two years or more, and who is not family or one of your attorneys, they can be your certificate provider for nothing — and that is what we suggest first. If you genuinely have no one, we can arrange it, and we will explain how and what it costs on your check call.
Why is it free? How do you make money?
The check calls are made by estate planners in an accredited network who pay us a fee when you buy a service. That is the whole model. You are never obliged to buy anything, and the LPA you make is yours either way.
